Blogging

I thought blogging was a good idea. It is a good way to get easy points. It also was a good way to let each student express their feelings about different things. It even caused a little bit of drama. But what doesn't? Blogging makes students sit down and think about what is going on around them. I believe it also makes us better writers. I wish we would have done this the whole year. We should have done this the whole year instead of spelling tests! It is also interesting to see what others blog about. I like to see what is going on in other people's life so mine doesn't seem so crazy. The end! :)

End Of The Year

May fate is finally here. It is a little bitter sweet. It is going to be sad not being able to ever dance again on Mayfete night. However, it is going to be soo nice having Sundays off next year. Mayfete is a tradition I hope they never get rid of. I have learned so much from it and it has made me a better person. There is only a little more than two weeks left of school. This is also somewhat bittersweet because I have come to grow close with a couple of the seniors. Watching them graduate is going to be a hard thing to do. I have also gotten to know many other seniors that I never figured I would get close to. Finals are the only big thing left. I am counting down the days! :)

Mayfete

Tomorrow is the day! Mayfete has finally arrived. All of us girls have worked so hard for months and months. We have now found out the theme. Everything seems so much more real! The only downside is immature people. I don't see how hard it is to get along in an atmosphere like that. It is not that hard to keep comments to yourself. With all that aside, everything is coming together and all of us girls are super excited! I can't wait to hear the girls scream when we do that one move that has the WOW factor! Seeing the girls walk down the aisle is a bitter sweet moment. It is just the first step to going on with their lives.

Life

Lately, I have been feeling the stress of deciding what I want for myself in the future. I've been questioning myself if I have taken the right classes all along or if I have signed up for the right classes next year. I know the school year is getting close to being over so I need to start deciding what I really want to do. College, classes that will benefit my major, and scholarships. I fear if i when I get into college, I will choose the wrong major halfway through. I don't want to waste money and have to pay $80,000 worth of student loans back. I know every student feels this way, but when I go to college I want to feel confident with what career I choose. I also don't know if I want to go to Lakeland or Eastern. I know Lakeland is cheaper, but Eastern is bigger, more fun, and I will be at the same school for 4 years. Graduating from college and being successful is very important to me even though i know it will not be easy. It's stressful to think about but I know if i work hard I will be fine and get through it. Only 1 more year! :)

papers

Every student dislikes writing papers. However, i HATE writing papers. I feel like I am just going through the motions. Looking up information, thesis, intro, body, and conclusion..AHH. This year, I have been assigned a paper atleast every other week. Here lately, it has been atleast 3, sometimes 4 a week. Since I have been writing so many papers, it makes me not want to even try to learn about them. I don't feel like I am even learning anything anymore. I wish I could go back to 4th grade where we never had to do papers. I hate papers. Papers are no fun. Papers suck.

Spring Break

Spring break was really fun, but like always it flew by. The weather felt like summer. One of my friends that moved away was in town so it was a blast. Coming back to school was really tough. All of us junior students came back to school, having a 6 page paper due on Thursday. It was really annoying because of course we knew about this all spring break, but we did not want to do it. We are procrastinators. Turning in the rough draft felt good. I tried to make it close as I could to the real thing, so I wouldn't have to work on it as much next week. With spring here, everyone knows summer is just around the corner. It's a short stretch from here. Thank goodness! :)

RandOm.

I am soo excited that spring is finally here! The weather is beautiful. When spring starts, it always makes me want to get stuff done. Spring break also starts this weekend, so that gives me something to look forward to. Unfortunately, five of my friends are going to be gone though. Some will be in Florida and some will be in Alabama. I wish I could get away for a few weeks. Sometimes I wish I lived somewhere far away where I didn't know anyone and the weather was nice 24/7. I guess that's what college is for. I can't wait to get out in the real world and be on my own. My parents are pretty leniant with me now, but I can't wait to live by myself and figure things out on my own. One more year! :)

GeTtIn FiT*

Desiree's and my new year resolution was to workout and eat healthier everyday. So far we have done a really good job. Working out with a friend keeps you a lot more motivated. Working out by yourself is not as much fun at all. We usually workout for about 45 minutes to an hour. Since it has been getting warm, we have been going outside a little more. Last week we ran in the cemetary. Needless to say, the next day I was sore. I haven't actually ran like that in a year. It feels good to get back in shape. I have also tried not eating as much. My problem is when I'm bored, I eat. I have been eating healthier as well. Hopefully by summer, i shed 5-10 pounds.

My SiStEr'S wEdDiNg

Two weekends ago my older sister got married. Only having two sisters, it was a huge deal to my family and I. She went from almost inviting 400 people to cutting it down to probably 50-75. It was much better this way. It was also only her and her husband Adam that stood up together. It made it seem like they were the only two people in the world. Watching her walk down the aisle was breath taking. When my dad handed her off he kissed her on the cheek and told her he loved her. I have never felt this feeling before in my life. Us three sisters don't share the same last name anymore. It's a bitter sweet feeling. However, I am happy for her that she has found her soul mate! :)

MaYfEtE.

We have been practicing for Mayfete for three weeks now. We still aren't as good as we would like to be of course. It seems like we have more dances to learn this year. It's always overwhelming at first, but now everyone is starting to get the hang of things. I absolutely hate practicing at Memorial. It's so crowded and loud. I enjoy Mayfete when we start practices in the gym. Dress rehearsal week is my favorite. Although it is extremely overwhelming, it's fun. We get to practice in our costumes and work as hard as we can. We also get to practice just like we would perform. The lights make it feel real!

SuMmEr! :)

I cannot wait for summer to finally come! It will be a pretty easy going summer. I will spend most of my days lounging by the paddle club pool. I work as a lifeguard there. Last summer, I was only a sub, but this year I will be an actual guard. After I get done working, my friends and I spend our nights underneath the baseball lights watching games. During the summer, it seems to be we seem to get alot closer. We swim at Josh's every night and act like his home is our own. I also can't wait to get a tan without going tanning. I like to lay by my pool and relax. Not having the worry of having homework is probably the best part of summer. I also like to make money. The beautiful weather is why summer is my favorite season! :)

Weird Week

Last week was extremely weird. On Monday night, my house caught on fire. There was some damage, and our house still smells pretty bad. Watching the firemen get the fire out was pretty cool though. Tuesday and Wednesday we had snow days. I didn't really do much on the snow days except sleep in! I couldn't really drive anywhere because my car is horrible in snow. When we got back to school on Thursday, an annoncment came over the intercom saying the school needed to evacuate to the Y because there was a gas leak. My dad and the fire department had to fix the it. On Friday, someone pulled the fire alarm, so once again, we had to all go outside for fifteen minutes waiting for the firemen to get there making sure everything was safe. Can a week get any more strange? I don't think so!

Superbowl

As we all know, the superbowl was yesterday. The Indianapolis Colts and the New Orlean Saints played. I was super excited because the team I have followed ever since I have been little was fortunate enough to make it! Go Colts! :) I think one reason I like them so much is because they are so close to us. Coming to Terre Haute for training camp in the summer is exciting for everyone around us. For some reason, not everyone seems to like them around here. I think the Colts are a very respectable team. I enjoy watching Peyton Manning play the most. He is one of the smartest players in the NFL. Him being my favorite player, I was happy to see him get MVP of the league. I was sad/extremely angry the Colts lost, but if they were to lose to any team, I am glad it is the Saints.

Busy Week =/

This week is gonna be very stressful. Taking harder classes this year results spending more time on homework each night. I have a study hall, but that doesn't help much. My grades are starting to slip but I'm still working just as hard. What's frustrating to me and I'm sure many other students is when teachers assign papers, tests, and homework all in the same week. I have four papers due by Monday. I also have two tests. I know teachers hate to hear our complaining but it really is a hassle to schedule our nights out during the day. Unlike me, there are other students involved in athletics and the play both. Juggling both of those exta curriculars and keeping their grades up is hard work. I just wish teachers would talk a little more and schedule their assignments around each other. I guess that's a little too much to ask! :)

Wreck

This past week i got into my first car wreck. I have almost had my license for a year so before this I was feeling pretty good about my masster driving skills! I was on my way to see a friend that had just arrived in town. I was on a country road so i was driving in the middle of it. Of course the roads were slick, so when I saw a car coming, i slowly tried to get over. My car slid and went into a massive ditch. It about flipped but thankfully i was lucky. Neither my car, or I got injured. The steering was a little shaky but other than that it was fine. When my dad came, i felt like an idiot because my parents have been nagging me about driving carefully in the dangerous weather. I was really upset but my dad made me feel better by telling me it was a lesson learned. Now when I'm driving I will make sure I am more careful.

College Basketball

Hi! My name is Ashley Spencer, if you haven't noticed. I'm new at blogging, so I might sound silly. Last night I went to the Lakeland/OCC basketball game in Mattoon to see a former Paris student play. It was really exciting to see him playing on a college basketball team, that is always where he has desired to be. It was also neat that the game I went to, he got to start! The game was pretty close until about third quarter. Lakeland has a big guy in the middle that came to Lakeland to play from Africa. He is about 7 feet tall. Needless to say, Olney lost. It was a good experience to watch him as a college player though. The game was much more intense than a high school basketball game. It caught me by surprise.
